I'd use 1/2" Grade 5 bolts in the proper length. IMO, redi-rod is really puny soft stuff. That said I have guard rail put on wooden posts with 1/2" x 2 1/2" - 3" L lag screws and have never had a problem. I put a single lag and flat washer in each factory center hole of the guardrail.
Best way to attach guard rail to pipe?
