| Toyota dealers started this practice 20-30 years ago as a way to improve reliability. A family friend once told me that he could afford to buy a Toyota, but could not afford to own a Toyota. Everytime he took the car to the dealership, they found something that needed to be replaced. Yes the car was reliable, but it cost a fortune to fix the things that were not broke yet.
In response to your question, this is why I do not take my vehicles to a dealership. Is your employer going to offer a service warranty once they perform the inspection?
