I was thinkin the same as you JDSWMO at first, until I put the pencil to it. I figure the machinery investment to feed, hay, clip, minor pasture maintenance, ect. will atleast equal their investment in cows. Price of fuel and temporary fence supplies may or may not equal the fertilizer(dont use alot). Pretty much leaves wages verses land investment. I dont know, but this particular operation has always been pretty labor intensive(really poor fences) which aint my fault. Would like to pick up the extra cash, but am 45 this spring, been around cattle all my life, and really dont need 'experience' anymore, if ya know what I mean. Want to be fair to them, but wanna be fair to myself also.
