central Kentucky | I sold my last sheep seven years ago, but from my experience sheep would not do well in a dry lot. I raise cattle and rotate pastures, we always followed the cattle with the sheep as we rotated. Cattle would leave the weeds and the sheep would eat them. You just can't leave the sheep anywhere too long or they will eat the pasture right into the ground. I quit raising sheep because we couldn't get reliable shearers to show up when we needed them. I have thought about getting some of the hair sheep, but haven't taken the plunge yet. Worst part of sheep for me was the constant worming. I'm sure there's a better way now, but I caught them by hand and gave them an oral wormer every three months. Don't think I could do that now. | |
