You can stretch your hay a long ways with silage . I feed it It will keep the cows in condition . I have found that you need to feed what works for you . The feedman likes to sell you feed . I like to pay myself too. The other thing that I have found is that anything feeds better than a loader bucket of snow or dirt. Do watch the silage amount when you are calving that you don't get it to rich can give the calves scours.
