Dan, does the high school guidance counselor there know his/her stuff at all?  There are a tremendous number of scholarships out there, all it takes is someone who knows the ropes to help search.  A very few years ago, there were scholarships for intramural athletes with asthma, left handers, and many others that just seem off the wall, but pay the bills.  Is there a Ruritan chapter in your area?  The one here provides scholarships.  Local service organizations such as Elks, Masons, Eagles, etc. also have them.
