| Another thing most people don't know is that federal law allows the employer to keep 1/2 the tips if they pay minimum wage.
As for the original posters question, In those situations I don't leave as large a tip as I would if the waitress serves the entire meal. If the only time I see them is when they bring out my drink & bring the check it will be less. If they do a good job & keep the drinks refilled & are friendly I'll go up to 15% Just because a waitress serves the full meal doesn't guarantee a 20% tip, she has to earn it or I'll leave less.
