Yeah it is a HUGE pain in NM waiting for the brand inspector to show up so you can ship, but it does provide a good deal of traceability. On the TX side not nearly so stringent and easier for cattle to go missing. Funny the difference between East and West US. Our two states here REQUIRE brands if the animals are over certain age.
