Subject: Q on Branding and ID of cattle in Midwest/East

Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot
Couple of threads below have me wondering is branding not common back east? If not how do you ID or prove ownership?

Just curious, we run a real small herd for the area, mostly purebred stock but still brand everything. Only recognized way of ID, and if a branded animal changes hands we'll earmark as well to make sure that change is noted. Sounds like branding isn't as common East.
