Subject: Re: water cost?

Springville Alabama
30- 45 gallons per cow per day x 15 cows would equal about 14,000 gallons a month. Even at 20 gallons per day they would drink about 9,000 gallons per month.

BTW: If you own the rental house, don't you own the well??? Of course he is probably paying the power bill to pump the water. I'd offer him a little on the power bill. $25.00 -- $50.00 month.

A 1 hp pump uses 1500 watts of electricity. So running 1 hours will cost you 30 cents at 20 cents per Killowatt Hour. In 1 hour a 5 GPM pump will pump 300 gallons. It would take 46 hours of pump time to pump 14,000 gallons. 46 hours x 30 cents = $13.80 for electricity.

A 2 hp pump uses 2100 watts. That would cost 40 cents per hour @ 20 cents per KWH. 46 hours x 40 cents = $18.40 for electricity.

That's not including the "value" of the water.

Maybe others will chime in...
