Subject: RE: Sad Story

Dairys seem to be in constant expansion. There is only demand for so much dairy and it is competing with imports at that.  Something has to give, and it is usually the high cost producers or the ones with too low of volume to make a living on thin margins.  I'm in a low dairy population area where milk is hauled 50 miles to processor, neighbor with a 30 cow herd had to quit in '08 because processor said he wasn't worth their time anymore.  His cows were his passion, not just numbers and $'s and he took good care of them.  Probably like hogs, after the toilet flushes enough times, the only guys left standing will be a few large corporates.
