Subject: Mixing sale barn cattle with home raised

perryton, tx
I don't think this years calf crop is big enough to fully utilize the wheat pasture i have, so i was considering buying some steers or heifers to put out with them. The last time i turned in some sale barn cattle with my home raised ones i had 4 home raisers dead within a few days so i don't want to repeat that mistake again. In my situation it isnt feasible to keep 2 seperate herds so i have to mix them if i want to do this but i need some advice as to how to minimize the disease threat to my calves. Thanks.
