Southwest Missouri | We have built 10 feeders so far. Most are 5 foot by 10 foot. They have metal roofs to keep out rain. Usually, I can fill them on weekends and then just once during the week.
I have a job in town and sometimes it is dark before I get home. I try to avoid gettting the loader started more than I need.
The roof keeps the rain off. There is enough space so all the cows can get to hay at one time. Less chance of boss cows keeping the smaller ones from eating. We store our hay in the barn. There is not enough waste in the feeders to fill a 5 gallon bucket.
