northwest tennessee | I agree and if you use your head you can save alot of hay. I make them clean it up too and if you get them in the habit of doing that it is no problem. Another trick I use is put it out so they will be about out in the evening and they clean up real well during the night plus you gain several hours on the amount you put out. You do that off and on through the winter and when all is said and done you have gained a week or two of hay days. As it starts to get muddy I will unroll on hills and turn to it in paddocks. I will only unroll what they will eat in about 2 hours in each paddock because anymore than that they will make bedding out of. They will stay in the paddock about 6 or 8 hours and then I turn them to the next one. I spread my manure this way too. | |
