Subject: Re: Pilots, how many do we have here?

Fresno, California
I learned to fly right after high school, in 1959. My instructor was an IA. I got my A&P in junior college. I picked up my float plane rating while stationed, at Ft Lewis Washingtion. I was fortunate to work in Columbia SA as a helicopter mechanic, Made a lot of bush flights in Cessna 185's and Turbo Beavers. Most of the strips were cut out of the jungel or the ocean beach, The next year in 1968 I wen't to Alaska. Spent the year doing BLM native land allotment survays, No GPS in those days, all survaying by hand crews. In 1973 I went to work for Bill Lear as his helicopter mechanic, I got a lot of Lear 25 rides, across Nevada. boy will that Learjet throw you back in the seat on take off. My first flight we wen't to 50,000 ft at about 5,000 ft a minute. once we got to altitude I began wondering how fast this thing will come back to earth, all I remember was it didn' take long, After my first ride I learned to use the jump seat as it was easer on the stomach. Lots of good memories.
