The Zynx computer has serial ports with DB9 connectors. If the laptop has only a USB and needs a way to hook up a GPS that does not have a USB, you need to have some sort of converter. These converters have caused us much grief and therefore we try to use something that does not depend on USB connectors for field use.
If the question is only about the laptop, and not the need to connect to a GPS using some sort of converter, it is not relevant. If the question is about the hookup, and the problems related to it, then having a computer with serial ports certainly is. We use the Zynx or other computers that have serial ports. | |
