Boone Co. Iowa | Sometime in the last year I went to hear Doug Jackson from FC Stone talk. He does a pretty good job telling the story about world supply and demand, and this time he kind of made the story (with real numbers) about what the demand would be from China and ethanol, and what the supply would look like, and he gets kind of doom and gloomy and talking about rather high corn and bean prices seen by the market, with the American farmer holding the highest poker hand while nearly everyone else is starving, unable to pay for medical care/medicine (not his words, but his sentiment), kind of the End of Days scenario, and his joke line is that in the back of the room "we're selling guns and renting bullets." I always liked that line... | |
