I have buried PVC pipe that a post will fit into the ground where the double gates meet and chain together. We use our double gates to get out row crop equipment moved from field to field and only want to open one gate to check cows. If the post is removed make a simple little plug to keep it from filling 6-7with dirt. Been doing this for about 6-7 years now. Works really great for us.
