That would be a stocker and/or backgrounding operation.  I have done it for the last 5 years and am making reasonably good money without the breeding and calving work or problems.  There are a few things that work and don't work as I have found out over these few years.  Number one is to have a good marketing plan in place using puts and calls on the feeder cattle board.  Be aware of market changes and what you paid so you can get out before you have to eat a lot of money or your own beef.

I gaurantee you it pays better than renting the pasture to the neighbor.
