| We've had plenty of moisture around these parts, lol. Problem seems to be rapidly approaching maturity, need some cool nights like last night; but, forecast is lows in the 70's high's 90+.
Kernal counts are good to excellent, ear counts are down 1,500-2,000 per acre (May frost & etc). Ear size seems smallish, fwtw. Look to have lots of corn black-layered over Labor Day weekend, over a month ahead of last year. Should've been a year for well into the 200's around here whole farm ave's, until the monsoon season of late June early July.
Beans are always a WAG for me. Lots of drowned out and the worst SDS we've ever seen, some fields will be disasters. Better drained farms with tollerant varieties may break some records.
Call us steady with '09, which was an ok year, but our worst or 2nd worst since 2001. | |
