I'd say flat pad for now with maybe a back wall if it's up against a dirt bank or something. You can always set side walls in the future, or maybe shop around some old empty feedlots & buy someones used walls? Would save some money for now and do the job to keep you out of the mud. Maybe spend some of the money you thought you'd spend on walls and make yourself a nicer pad out front to load feed on, could give you extra room to pile gluten or ground hay.
