North Dakota
+/- 6-8 inch accuracy means, statisticaly you will be within 6-8 inches either side of the true line, pass-to-pass, with a sigma 2 rating, which is 95% of the time. This is all on paper and is not a true measure of what you can hope to achieve in real life. In real life you have a number of variables to contend with, land preparation, implement drift, tractor wear, satellite constallation during the day and quality of your auto-steering equipment. Our standard answer to someone who wishes to plant with a WAAS signal is "NO". WAAS is not accurate enough for planting! That way if they do try to use it, and a number of them do, we have a bit of space if they complain about how it planted. Around here most farmers who use WAAS use it for tillage, seeding broad acres and spraying. When they seed they set it for 6" shorter than their drill and have been very satisfied with the results. Like you they are willing to have overlaps but will not tolerate any skip.

Our most difficult customers are the ones who want RTK accuracy out of the cheapest equipment they can buy. Regardless of the brand, decide what the best accuracy you will need then buy the equipment that matches that need. You will be much happier in the end.
