we had 5" of rain on July 4 and we were needing a rain bad now and caught one on the 20th. We were wet early and shallow rooted and a 5" rain if hard enough isn't any better than a 2" rain. Heat and wind make it dry fast. I am always worried that it will be our last rain no matter how wet we are.
