| The weather in SW Minn. may be "perfect". But, the last i knew they don't grow all the crops there. There are more extremes this year than last. It was a wet year but most and a very good crop. This year there have been lots of "bad" areas. And it takes a lot more perfect acres to make up for acres that are totally lost. Its not like we need a total disaster to be in tight supplies. Just close or below a trendline yield. That is what traders are looking at. Also, any temp over 85 puts stress on the crop. Just because in the maps there are no 100's for days doesn't mean there won't be stress to at least some of the crops... causing stress which can lead to tip back on ears and lower yields. It may "look" perfect, but how does it look at harvest? We need to be looking outside of our backyards. Grains on the CBOT are traded with a world wide look. Not a back yard look. | |
