| Woops, didnt read close..........you worte DSS but I think you meant DSL. Things to look for. Look for anything else that hooks to a phone line..........sat TV, security systems...........faxes.............anything at all........they all need a filter. Then I would start unplugging things one at a time............leaving them unplugged...........untill the static is cleared up. Then plug them in one at a time in a different order until the static is back...............maybe you can isolate the combination of things that cause it.
I have seen issues with other things inducing noise............might try taking a look around for any other electric things and try unplugging them. I had one home where track lighting was the issue. They told me every night at x:00 o clock they would loose connection..........that one took a while to figure out but seemed pretty easy after the fact.
Do you have any trouble keeping sync with the modem?
Is the phone company able to perform any tests on the line and offer any insight?
