Calves are more alert and aggressive and can handle the extra production, provided it comes in a quality dispensing unit. It will end the productive life of anything that has a poor udder, unless of course you like milking out cows with big teats every few days (some people actually do - means to them that they are 'good milkers').
The small calves reasoning is baloney. Unless your breeding for small calves, of course. You won't get smaller calves unless your summer or fall calving.
Never seen a calf have 'low milk consumption' unless it's on death's door. |
