That ground is quite a bit rougher than it looks in that photo and yes, the culvert is a much shorter route for me more than the cows - and a decent place to put a perimeter fence. There is a gate on the far side.  If you look at the last photo above - to Joshua about fence corners - that culvert is in the clearing in trees the distance behind the orange gate handle. It provides a means to cross a ravine near the top end and connects two old logging trails. On the right hand side of that culvert and down the ravine etc. is some very good deer hunting.
