| I agree. I used to haul water all summer for several of the dry years with a 1500 gal tank in my 2 ton truck. The closest water tap was 17 miles from my place but had a good flow and would fill the tank in less than 20 minutes. Good water and the cattle loved it. The water co-op has since reduced the water flow rate at this tap.
Now it takes 20 minutes to fill a 400 gallon pickup tank. I don't have a need to haul any water for myself now. I haul a pickup tank full occassionally for a neighbor lady for her household use, just to stay in practice LOL!
IIRC, the water still costs $4.50/thousand gallons which works out to $1.80 for a pickup tank of water. Sounds expensive, until you consider that a 20 oz bottle of soda pop costs about the same.
