Silver Lake, Kansas | It has been my observation that having a place to work on things makes it easier to work on things. There seems to be something in the shop all the time during the winter. I cannot say that it is a profit center, but there is not much that goes to outside labor in recent years. I am fortunate to have someone working here who can fix about anything.
The shop is the place I would just as soon the salesmen would come to, instead of the house or calling me on the phone. My office is not technically in the shop, but I do have a work space there that I can do office work. It is easier to give directions to delivery people to come to the shop than elsewhere. The shop has served as a hideout when I did not want to be bothered by the world. Business deals have been made and some close friendships forged sitting around the heating plant on a cold day.
To paraphrase Plowboy in a different thread, I can't imaging farming without one. | |
