Not going to look at any other replies.
Fill the 3 gallon bucket and pour it into the 5 gallon bucket leaving two gallons of water. Empty the 3 gallon bucket and transfer the two gallons back into it. Now fill the 5 gallon bucket and use it to fill the 3 gallon bucket. Wala, you have 4 gallons in the 5 gallon bucket.
Of course we may have to talk about payment before hand.
I think you meant to fill the 5 and dump it in the 3 in your first step to leave 2 gallons. Thats the same way I came up with it above.
