Subject: RE: DirectBuy

southern Alberta
My sister and BIL ren oed their house in Calgary and got most of the goods from directbuy. It is all order and wait, as they have no warehouses. However they found out when you have a problem you are pretty much on your own to deal with the problem. Directbuy's attitude was "you saved alot of money so what do you expect" The 2 problems were, They bought an Electrolux fridge and dishwasher. The fridge, when they plugged it in the display on the door lit up for a few minuites and then when out, and the fridge no worky. As they found out you are dealing direct with the manufacturer on warrenty. So out comes sevice guy, cant service the part as this is a new model/manufacture. So we will replace it-no problem, however since directbuy deals factory direct, another 6 weeks for new fridge from factory. There surely was one somewhere in a warehouse in Calgary but Electrolux would not get one sooner than they could build it, so it was another 6 weeks wait. Directbuy did not help get one sooner either. Problem 2, dishwasher was damaged in shipping, leaked water from the rear of the unit. Same deal, 6 weeks for a new one. By now the kitchen is done, who wants to wait somemore, they still had 3 weeks till the fridge would arrive. They agreed finally to refund the purchase price. She went to Sears, and had a new one installed that afternoon. Their comments after all this were, the money saved was sure soured by lack of customer service, when you have a problem, and in the end you have to do alot of buying to save the 5 grand membership fee. Just something to be aware of.
