If no kids, might check out the Elms hotel Excelsior Springs Mo. It is historic and only about 1 hour or less out of the city. About half way between the KS stuff they are talking about and the Amish area around Jamesport Mo. Easy to blend both. Not recommended for kids nothing to do.
