we heated one winter with wood , no stock pile when we moved it to the house . Had to buy a chain saw and splitting wedge . It was 5 miles from the ranch house to school . By spring I had cleaned out all the dead trewes along the way . Winter of 68/69 was brutal up in the Tobbaco Valley of Montana . -67 degrees , 12' of snow . It settled to about 3 ' No wind there thankfully.
