Just yesterday one of the few remaining sawmills in my locale announced layoffs because they were unable to secure timber from the Black Hills National Forest. Oddly, there is more harvestable timber now in BHNF than in the last fifty years. Some folks would rather see a forest burn rather than create some economic activity.
