Northern Nebraska | White corn grows well as far north as northern Iowa. Nebraska is the leader in white corn production. It could be bred to grow anywhere but demand is so low that widespread breeding and growing isn't needed.
In the United States it's only used for white corn chips and white cornmeal. Americans don't have the social reasonings for only eating white corn like they do in African countries. So the market is quite small.
Maybe an educational campaign and convince people to cook with yellow corn would help those effected? The fact that the market only wants yellow, white or blue corn is antiquated and not based on anything real. Dent corn could be any hue of the rainbow. | |
