Wisconsin | No way I would kill that and start over if you're not going to do it right in the late summer. Doesn't sound like you're a slit seeder kind of guy, so sprinkle a little seed on the bare spots then lightly rake the dead grass to spread it around a little to cover the new seed. Check to see when you can put down a pre emergent to control crabgrass or other annual weeds, might be too late after the new seed, that's fine, do it next year. If there's bluegrass there, it will spread and fill in eventually. Don't seed it too thick, it will be too much competition and won't get established well enough to survive, especially if the seed mix is mostly annual ryegrass like most are. | |
