Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
As far as stopping/starting recording for a coverage map, the Ag Leader Application Rate works exactly as you mention. The previous reply questions about whether it can be used with different implements, again absolutely no problem.

The Application Rate Module connects to the Ag Leader system with the usual round CAN connector and a tee so that the other branch of the tee can contain a terminator plug. The Application Rate Module could be mounted on the tractor or on the implement. Your display cable for steering may or may not have a CAN connector branch, if it does not, one with a branch is needed.

If you mount the Application Rate Module on the implement you would need a CAN extension to get from the tractor to it. You would also need a two wire cable to the implement switch.

If you mount the Application Rate Module on the tractor you would need a common two wire extension to reach the implement switch. If you were going to do this with several implements, it would probably be more convenient to mount the module on the tractor and leave it there. Then you would need an extension and implement switch. If you were going to do this with several implements, it would be most handy to permanently install an implement switch on each implement with an appropriate extension.

As far as using the module with different situations, this is no problem either as a configuration is created for each implement. You chose the appropriate configuration for the implement you are hooked on to today. The configuration is very simple and only asks for the working width of the implement and if an implement switch is used you can chose either Standard or Reversed as far as how the implement switch is located. You use one choice if the implement switch is deflected when raised and the other if the implement switch is deflected when lowered. You don't even have to have all your implement switches behave the same way as this setting is saved with the configuration which contains the width.

The system can only support one Application Rate module at a time, using more than one at the same time is not supported. Multiple Liquid Modules are supported though.

It is also possible to use the Application Rate Module to monitor a flow meter. In that setup it will display the applied rate. It cannot control the application rate, only monitor it.

As far as monitoring population, the Ag Leader Seed Tube Monitoring Module can be used with corn and soybeans. It works very well although high rate sensors are often needed for soybeans. As far as monitoring small grain seed, I don't have experience with that.
