Yeah, I think you're right. Was standard practice in these parts, when I was a lad, too. Not after ear corn, but after chopping. Of course, back then I don't think fusarium/scab/DON was an issue anyone was concerned with. Low yield environment and all that...70bpa was bragging rights!

Back then(1970's) this was pretty much all white wheat country...couldn't give red away! How things have changed.
