It does work great.

We used Uber on our last family holiday as well. Worked great and was cheaper than renting a car especially since parking alone would have ran us $25-50 day.

One trip was over 1.5 hours and was $250. The driver showed up in a brand new Escalade and asked me how much I was paying. I told him $250 and he said he was only going to get $155.

He suggested I cancel the ride which had a $25 fee and just pay him $160 cash. Win-win for everyone especially when I left a $40 tip and could still come out ahead in the deal.

All the drivers were friendly and nice to deal with.
