Has she cleaned her dishwasher?   Yes,  you need to run a  "dishwasher cleaner"  through your dishwasher monthly.   I found out the expensive way.   Got to pay for a new pump.    Today's newer dishwasher soap/pods  don't have the  same level of phosphates as the old ones.   The arms  get "gunked up"  and stuff doesn't get clean.    Anytime my dishwasher isn't working as it should  I run an empty clean cycle with a dishwasher  cleaner tab.   Alfresh is the brand name.   
Otherwise,  just let her load it her way.    My husband maybe tries to help load the Dishwasher a couple of times a year.  I just wait till he leaves the room  and do it  the  RIGHT WAY.
