Sac & Story county IA | Around here it is insurance. Insurance company says "quit using this facility today". Partly structural, 60 years after build, find out inadequate rebar in concrete. Partly bad wiring or not up to current code. Partly employee safety, tightening of codes. Partly, the facility would work as seasonal, open for harvest. Partly, no tractor and wagon grain anymore. Even the seismic shaking of trains going by for 60 years has a bad effect on strength of concrete.
Several sold to farmers. No idea if buyers checked on insuring before they bought. Rules for farmers have always been less than commercial. Commercial always had to have things running attended. Farmers can have a dryer running and be home in bed.
Working with railroads has always been near impossible. They will say busy with better paying freight. We don't want your business.
I was in on buying this thing. It was with some other stuff. We never planned on using it. Figured value as at least $50,000 under zero.
