4WD - 3/3/2024 16:32

The 4WD transfer cases, of that era, would be a NP205, which had a 2:1 ratio when put into LOW. (Note: if manual tranny was in front of transfer case)

Ask yourself, if you are currently in "granny-low" with your 2WD 4sp, would 1/2 that speed be good enough/slow enough to feed?

If so, getting a HD 4sp tranny with a NP205 transfer case, shift linkage, crossmember, shorter rear driveshaft; all together; and swap out your 2WD HD 4sp tranny.

I own a 1988 Chevy V30 1 ton 4x4 (camper special), with 454 gas, turbo 400 tranny and NP205 transfer case; with 4:10 rear axle ratio.

I can't remember for sure but I was thinking the frame rails were different between a K-series and a C-series but it still might be the way to go even if you had to make some modifications.
