One of the problems is haulers. There's a big Mennonite settlement here, so they have one hauler getting them all, but if everybody else in your neighborhood quits, and you're 30-40 miles from their next nearest stop, shipping 5000 pounds every other day, the hauler isn't going to want to come way out and get you. I remember when I was involved with Michigan Milk Producers, there were two stops left in an area of North East Michigan, and MMPA was having a hard time getting a hauler who'd go way out there and get them anymore. I don't know how they ever did settle that one. I assume they probably quit. Logistics I think they call it.

Back when I hauled cans in to the plant here in town, I had some stops that I had to just drop. It was too far out to go get them anymore. I can still remember, I was making about a 40 mile loop in to one area to get four stops, but when I started thinking about it one day, from those four stops, I was picking up nine cans. You just can't keep doing that.
