I remember the 70s when there were double four parlors and 20x70 silos going up everywhere and everybody was going to 100 cows. That was a big operation at the time. At least big enough for what the colleges thought you needed. I saw what was happening with hogs and poultry as far as size. I remember thinking that once the dam broke and it started happening to dairy, the number of mega dairies would grow exponentially while the number of dairies overall would drop like a rock. We're there, that's for sure. I wouldn't want to go back to milking any number of cows though, so they can have it.
