white shadow - 2/18/2024 19:41 These debates can be pretty regional in what works. I put down dual or harness and Callisto, but the problem with pre's in my neighborhood is that it doesn't rain with 14 days to activate the pre's a lot of the time. The fringe already has a lot of built in stress's we cannot control, why ad more stress on things we can at least partially control with GMO's. 4 feet of black soil and timely rains allows some to do a lot of things that would be fairly high risk here.

We had to respray a bunch of pre acres last spring that never got more than 2/10" to activate them (some of it Acuron, some cheaper chemistry, didn't matter) and here in the land of extreme springs, there's also been a lot of instances of having to spot replant drowned out acres and then have to deal with cleaning up weeds in corn at different growth stages in the same field.  Getting rid of foxtail that you would fight for miserable hours with the combine, preventing a bunch of cockleburs from going seed, etc.- well, there ARE things about traited crops that can't be priced quite so easily as plugging the numbers into a simple spreadsheet.
