What are you feeding, what type of power runs your mill (pto or electricity)?

My experience if you want a finer grind and the particle size deviation doesn’t matter, go with a hammer mill. If you want the particle size to be more uniform go with a roller mill, and stack them to get finer particles.

We have tried with electric motors, standard mills run a 3500 rpm motor, and some times we can’t slow the motors down enough (1800 rpm motor with a VFD, to get just a crack without a screen. The higher the tip speed the more grinding action your going to get, especially with a large diameter mill. Also more hammers leads to more grinding. How many rows
of hammers are in your mill?
