NC Indiana
Local dairy man would clean up his parade tractor for the 4th of July parade then go home and hook the tractor up to the planter and plant corn on his wheat stubble. He would top off all his silos late with that corn, then let the rest mature for ear corn usually finishing harvest in December. We tried a 90 day after wheat, and a really hot October made it look like dried out sweet corn. We've also tried forage sorghum after wheat for silage and got good tonnage, but needed some corn silage to mix with it.
