West central Ohio | Cooler weather at chopping=better fermentation=better feed!
Most of my corn silage is planted after chopping wheat in the spring. Often doesn't get planted until the first week of June. Like using 108-112 day corn. This year it was chopped first week of October.
In 2019, horribly wet spring, I planted last 110 acres of corn on July 7th. Not 100% sure of date, but wheat straw was being baled and hauled home that day as well. Made good feed, but had a very favorable fall weather to get it out of the field (no mud!!) | |
