Lancaster PA
Years back, when we used our silo for corn silage, we planted corn after barley in late June. We always chopped it late to top off the silo. It often had thin stalks but if it got a decent ear it made good feed. No matter how good it looks, dont let it go to shell. One year I remember it looked really nice and we had enough silage so we thought we would just shell it. It was still 30% the week before Christmas!
