SE Wisconsin
I have grazed winter rye in spring. (SE Wisconsin near the lake) kept waiting and then it took off. soon as it warms up it started growing. Best advice i could give is if you are waiting for it to be perfect, you are probably 2 weeks late. lol

We put cows out on it in mid april if i remember correctly because if we waited to may it was too tall. I was most concerned about rutting up the field. compaction etc.
